Taiwan Strait
Live vessel traffic through the Taiwan Strait: how many ships are in the lane now, what kind they are, and a timelapse of the last few hours.
The Taiwan Strait separates the island of Taiwan from the coast of mainland China, and it lies on the direct route between Southeast Asia and the ports of Northeast Asia. Container traffic bound for Japan, Korea and northern China runs through it rather than taking the longer way around Taiwan’s eastern side. It is about seventy nautical miles wide at its narrowest and shallow by ocean standards, with much of it under a hundred metres deep.
