Strait of Malacca
Live vessel traffic through the Strait of Malacca: how many ships are in the lane now, what kind they are, and a timelapse of the last few hours.
The Strait of Malacca runs for several hundred miles between the Malay peninsula and Sumatra, and it is the shortest sea route between the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea. It narrows and shallows toward its southeastern end, so the draught it allows sets a limit on ship size that the trade calls Malaccamax. Port Klang and Penang lie along the lane, and its traffic funnels onward into the Singapore Strait.
